In the event of a major disaster, such as a Cascadia subduction zone earthquake, Sandy High School may serve as a Red Cross Shelter for the citizens of our community, and we will need trained volunteers to help open and operate the shelter.
If you are interested in helping, please join us for a Shelter Simulation Course on June 17, 9:00-3:00 at Sandy High School, where you will learn and practice the basic skills needed to open and operate a disaster shelter. Register for the on-site course at: http://ccredcrosstraining.eventbrite.com/?s=76408642.
Before taking this simulation course, volunteers must also complete an online Shelter Fundamentals course that covers the basic guidelines and procedures for opening, operating and closing a shelter. Register for the online course at: http://disasterready.org.
Please join us on the 17th and become part of a team of caring volunteers who will help our families and community recover after a disaster.
See the Red Cross training flyer for more information.
