Sandy High students produce dragsters for annual competition

Sandy High CO2 dragster winners

SHS Manufacturing students produced CO2 model dragsters using CNC (computer numeric control) milling machines, manual lathes, and manual milling machines.  This is a capstone project for students in manufacturing 4 (advanced manufacturing).  The aluminum model cars can travel up to 65 mph and are powered by a CO2 cartridge.

This year’s CO2 model dragster competition winners are (from left to right):
Logan Sare, 2nd place racing
Galen Burks, 1st place racing, 1st place “best in show”

Nathan Cardwell, 3rd place racing

Judges from local industries included representatives from:  Cascade Precision Inc, Northwest Technologies, and Boeing.  We want to thank these supporters for their time and the prizes they provided to winners.
