Hello! My name is Cassiday Hopkins and I am ecstatic to be here at Sandy Grade School as your Title 1 reading specialist! I have enjoyed getting to know the students and families here, as well as working with such talented educators.  In High School I spent many hours volunteering in an elementary classroom. During this time, I quickly realized my love for children and education. Following high school, I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education at Concordia University. In 2004 I received a position in the Gresham-Barlow School District teaching 1st and 2nd grade. After working in the classroom for four years, my passion to teach children how to read and desire to further my education grew immensely. In 2008, I went back to Concordia University and received my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and received my Reading Endorsement! Next, I spent four years working at a charter school teaching kindergarten in the morning and intervention groups in the afternoon. Currently, this is my fourth year at Sandy Grade School, and I am ready to get back into the swing of things and watch the students grow!  While not at work, you will find me spending time with my husband of 15 years and our three beautiful children. I enjoy reading, running, crafting, and watching my children participate in a variety of sport programs.
