Oregon Trail School District voters approved a $114.9 million bond levy in 2008 to build a new high school and improve other school facilities. The investment is making a positive difference.
Bond-designated projects completed include:
- New high school opened in 2012
- Included a new School Based Health Center; afternoon public health clinic
- All other schools:
- Communication systems improved
- New phone system, including classroom phones
- WiFi network throughout, including all classrooms
- Building security improved
- Electronic security/card-access to buildings
- Single button lockdown capability
- Cameras monitoring security to buildings
- Single point-of-entry vestibules constructed at every school
- Perimeter fencing installed around every school
- Some schools received as needed:
- Roof and siding repairs
- Window and door replacement
- Electrical capacity upgrades
- HVAC system upgrades
Additional projects completed with residual bond funds:
- Two additional classrooms built at Naas Elementary to accommodate the growing enrollment
- Sandy High track replaced
- Turf fields installed at Sandy High, including:
- Varsity football field
- JV baseball and softball infields
- Varsity baseball and softball infields and outfields
- CRMS: Home of the Mountaineers!
- Campus renovations were funded with 2008 bond residuals and interest earnings, the construction excise tax, and the sale of the Cedar Ridge/Aquatic Center property.
Other major facility/campus projects completed with the district’s general operating budget facility improvement fund:
- Portable classroom additions at Kelso, Oregon Trail Academy, Naas, and Boring Middle
- Perimeter fencing security enhancement at Oregon Trail Academy, Welches campus and Boring Middle School
- Kelso cafeteria/library renovation
- Sandy Grade, Naas, and OTA sidewalk improvements
- Boring Middle School cafeteria/gym renovation
- Improved transportation access to alleviate congestion at Firwood Elementary, Boring Middle, Naas Elementary, Welches, and Oregon Trail Academy
- CTE expansion (classroom/program space) at Cedar Ridge and Boring Middle schools
- CTE expansion (classroom/program space) at Sandy High for new drone courses
- Sandy High varsity field turf replacement
- Cedar Ridge Fitness Center addition (grant funded)
- Sandy Grade playground enhancements (grant funded)
Our facility maintenance team addresses issues across the district on an ongoing basis, as needs arise and as funds allow. This includes:
- HVAC improvements
- Siding repairs or replacement
- Lighting upgrades
- Roof repairs
- Septic system repairs
- Boiler improvements or repairs
- Masonry improvements
- Fire system upgrades
- Door replacements
- ADA improvements
