Housing, utilities, groceries, entertainment - expenses add up quickly by the time people turn 25 years old (not to mention taxes, pets, cars, healthcare and more!). Sophomores at Sandy High School - now 10 years away from that age - got a glimpse into their possible future at the yearly Thrive at 25 event, sponsored by the Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce.
The event is like the game of Life, where students see how their financial future may play out based on a possible career and all the expenses they can expect to have when they are 25 years old. Once they reconcile their hypothetical income with their hypothetical expenses (with the help of more than 40 volunteers from the chamber!), they see if they break even, have a little money left over or are potentially in the red.
Special thanks to Ever Fresh Fruit Co. and AntFarm for providing refreshments.
