Connect all stakeholders through interactive communications and engagement: School Board, parents, teachers, Superintendent's Leadership Council, school site councils, parent/teacher organizations, education foundation, business partners, school volunteers, community members .

Academic Expectations

  • Kindergarten through 2nd Grade: Every child learning to read 
  • 3rd through 5th Grade: Every child reading to learn 
  • 6th through 8th Grade: Every child ready for high school 
  • 9th through 12th Grade: Every child graduating ready for career or post-secondary education 

Board Goals

  • Continually work to improve instructional practices that will inspire students to pursue academic excellence and become responsible and productive citizens. 
  • Increase high school graduation rate. 
  • Provide on-going professional development to ensure implementation of 
  • best-practice teaching strategies. 
  • Unite students, staff, and community through comprehensive engagement strategies and two-way communication channels. 
  • Identify and develop Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs of study that align with high wage jobs and industry needs.

Children Thrive Here

  • Sandy High graduation rates have increased by 25% since the new school opened in 2012-13. The 2021 graduation rate was 92%. Students who participated in a CTE program graduated at a rate of 95%. 
  • Sandy High School offers an Honors Diploma, AP courses, online courses, college dual-credit courses, and CTE programs that lead to high-skill, high- wage, in-demand occupations. 
  • Sandy High is a statewide leader among comprehensive high schools in offering  CTE courses, with 9 different Programs of Study.
  • Sandy High's middle college program allows students to earn their high school diploma and up to 72 college credits. 
  • Cedar Ridge Middle School earned U.S. News & World Report's 'Best Middle School' recognition by placing among the top 30% of middle schools in Oregon in 2022.
  • In 2022-23, 8th grade students earned a total of 238 high school credits for English 9, Spanish 1, and Algebra 1 courses.
  • In 2023-24, Cedar Ridge and Boring Middle offer electives that articulate with Sandy High's CTE Programs of Study, including Food Science, Veterinary Science, Environmental Science, and Engineering & Design - Drones & Robotics.
  • Sandy Grade School hosts Head Start and Oregon Preschool Promise classes.
  • Student's have access to a global educational network and virtual course work. 
  • Intervention coaches and high school success coaches keep students on track for meeting their academic goals. 
  • An on-going variety of staff training supports student mental health.
  • Oregon Trail School District is a recognized leader in implementing safe and secure learning environments.
